a) We're watching the budget and
b) eating out can be expensive, not to mention
c) it's usually healthier to eat at home
So, when I go to a restaurant, I want it to me really good. From the list below, you'll see that I haven't lived in too many places nor traveled all that much, but if you're ever in Georgia or South Carolina or Michigan, check these places ou.
Here are my favorite places to eat out, my favorite menu items, and links to the restaurants' websites:
The Brooklyn Seafood and Oyster House, Seattle, WA
My mother and I were in Seattle for a four days in fall 2012. We ate dinner here twice (and I ate the same meal both times-a Country Salad with the Brooklyn Crab Cake followed by Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake).
Chick-fil-A
The top choice when it comes to fast food.
The Clock, Gaffney, SC
If you're ever on I-85 and drive by Gaffney, S.C., stop by The Clock Restaurant off exit 90. They have the best desserts in town and the french fries are excellent!
The Copper Pot, Clarkesville, GA
Jennifer Aniston ate here-need I say more?
DePalma's, Athens, GA
A classic restaurant in a classic city. Quality Italian food.
The Flying Biscuit, Atlanta, GA
Breakfast and light entrees served with an eclectic twist. This a pretty groovy place to eat. Breakfast is served all day!
Folgarelli's, Traverse City, MI
Great specialty Italian market, but I go there for the fantastic deli sandwiches.
The French Laundry, Fenton, MI
Great sandwiches and desserts (you can even order a half slice of cake if you're too full for a whole slice).
The Hickory Tavern, Spartanburg, SC
This is a great place to hang out and grab a bite to eat and watch some sports (there are TVs and screens on every wall). Their seafood is excellent.
North Country Bar & Grill, Suttons Bay, MI
Really cool atmosphere and great food.
The Nova Cafe, Bozeman, MT
Good, fresh food. The place serves crisp baked no-guilt french fries :-)! It's a fun place to eat with a lot of funky art on the walls. We stopped for lunch while visiting the Museum of the Rockies.
The Staggering Ox, Helena, MT
This is a chain restaurant in Montana and has an interesting take on sandwiches: their's are called club foots. I've only been there once but can't wait to eat there again.
Mezza Lebanese Bistro, Atlanta, GA
Honestly, I've only been there once, but once will not be enough. Everything is made fresh from scratch.
Mickey Piggs BBQ, Alto, GA
The name says it all: BBQ. Best desserts in the county if you ask me.
Nava, Atlanta, Ga.
Nava serves Southwest fare and the service is first class.
Great southern cooking and desserts.
Pepper's Cafe and Deli, Big Rapids, MI
HUGE selection of sandwiches
Pizzeria Vivo, Big Rapids, MI
One benefit to living in a college town is the selection of pizza places. Pizzeria Vivo is my favorite-- the crust is what makes all the difference. My favorite pie to get is the Veggie Pesto Pizza.
Schuberg's Bar & Grill, Big Rapids, MI
I love the atmosphere almost more than the food. Good beer selection and pub food.
This place serves a diverse menu of made-from-scratch dishes that changes daily. I enjoy their falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, and grape leaves.
